Supporting the Next Generation

Earlier this month, Arrow Electronics announced the winners to the prestigious Arrow Memorial Scholarship. Converge is proud to announce that our very own Susan Avola’s, son, Rob Avola, is one of the recipients.

Every year, thousands of college-bound children and stepchildren of Arrow employees, including all divisions and subsidiaries in the U.S. and Canada, are eligible to apply for the scholarship. This year, only 8 recipients were selected based on diverse criteria including academic achievement, noteworthy extracurricular activities, community engagement, and work experience.

Rob will be attending Bentley University this fall to study finance and economics. He has been accepted to a competitive four-year combined BS/MS program that will enable him to graduate in four years with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree.

In addition to maintaining straight-As, he has served as the student body vice president of his class for four years, participated in varsity football and varsity track, as well as been a member of the World Language National Honor Society for his achievements in Spanish. He gave an engineering presentation to Governor Baker and received an award that was recognized by the state of Massachusetts. He was also a recipient of a math award given by his high school for his excellence and grades. Rob has been actively involved in Best Buddies, a nonprofit organization that creates opportunities for friendships, employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He has also worked through school to save for his education.

“I am so proud of him,” said Susan. “He’s extremely focused and has been working so hard, especially during the past year of completely virtual school. Bentley University is his dream school. In fact, it’s the only one he applied to and he is thrilled to start in the fall. This scholarship means so much as he is funding his education on his own. I’m excited to see all that he accomplishes.”

Congratulations, Rob, and Susan! We are honored to help support the next generation and Rob is a prime example of the heart, dedication, and spirit that we wish for the future of our children. We wish Rob much success in his future endeavors.

WE GROW TOGETHER.
